Meyronne to Saint Guilherm le Desert via Rocamadour
Left lovely Meyronne this morning and drive to Rocamadour to show Russell. Scenery there is incredible. Had a baguette and double espresso and headed off on the long drive to Saint Guilerm le Desert. lots of ks on narrow back roads but again beautiful countryside. I’ve said it before but I still reckon the green valleys and hills dotted with Rocky outcrops, bushes and trees would have to be as picturesque as anywhere in the world.
After having a raging thirst and in desperate need of petrol we finally found a freeway large petrol station that was open. Every little servo in the country towns was unmanned and auto, with instructions how to use in French and no ability to stick notes in them. Card only !
I reckon it was the first available in 100ks and it was chock a block. See the video.
Some of the smaller villages on the way here were stunning.
We arrived in Saint Guilherm le desert around 3,00 found the municipal car park, jagged a good spot and searched for our gite.
It was like a rabbit warren to get to it and it was open but nobody in sight. After a couple yelling out a guy finally popped his head out and he stunk of grog. I reckon he was sleeping off a big morning session. The rooms are spartan but it’s only for one night.
