Dinner, great nights sleep and visit to Gordes and Rousillon.

We didn’t want anything fancy the night before last for dinner so we sat out front of a pizza place and had a ripping pizza each and a beer . Now we have cold pizza in the fridge for snack time.

Yesterday morning after we ate our breakfast, we wandered around a different part of town. There are so many bars, cafes, clothing stores and the like on the island. Came back to the apartment read for a bit, phone calls then we headed for a Gordes and Roussillon. On the way, we were doing the 80k speed limit and a lady stopped at a T intersection in front on our right. She looked, she saw us approaching and waited til we were almost at the intersection. Then as we got there she decided to pull out slowly and cross the road in front of us. We hit the skids hard and just missed hitting her. We all might have been in trouble because there were plenty of cars up our ginger. She looked at us and waved “sorry”.  It was as close as close can be.

These are 2 beautiful hilltop villages many hundreds of years old with lots of stories to tell. It was market day in Hordes but by the time we got there a lot of the stalls were closing up. Most of the fresh produce had been snaffled up but the usual junky jewellery and daggy clothes were being stowed away in beaten up old cardboard boxes and chucked into vans for the next market in a different town tomorrow .

Because all these towns are so old, there’s no parking inside and all the visitors get gouged by the car parks , which are hundreds of meters away down the bottom of the hills. It’s a sight to see all the over 70’s struggling up them thar hills. Oh shit I just realized!

A quick feed and a wine for me, a coke and an ice cream for Russell and we were on our way back to L’isle sur La Sorgue. Thought we might tie on a big one last night  because I just saw a few of my friends were out celebrating my birthday at dinner and apparently I shouted. Well it didn’t turn out that big after all. Muggins here was feeling very poorly so came home and hit the silk. Hopefully today will be a better day.
