Collioure
We couldn’t wait to leave Montpelier this morning. The place was a dive.
After a 2 1/2 hour drive we arrived in Collioure. Bloody sat nav had us going the wrong way up one way streets again but now I’ve got it sorted . Now I reverse up the one way streets the wrong way. You might have to pull over now and again to let cars pass, but it looks a lot better to the gendarmes and gets you where she tells you. So we reversed up to our hotel and checked in. We had originally booked a twin room but because I’ve still got a wee cough we asked if we could get 2 single rooms. That way Russell doesn’t put up with my cough and I don’t put up with his snoring and gutteral sounds. They gave us an apartment, he’s in the bedroom and I’m on the divan in the lounge. Poifect!
Relaxed for a bit then headed down to the centre of town. Collioure is on the Mediterranean close to the Spanish border. Weather is nice , lots of great bars, cafes, restaurants and the usual galleries and gift shops. We stopped at one place and shared a charcuterie plate and a couple of beers then wandered around the bay. Came back and found a more sheltered bar and polished off a few more. Bloody beautiful. Walked back to our apartment so we could rest and write . It’s now 7.10 and we’re about to head out to dinner.
