Chilled day in Collioure

Enjoyed an easy Saturday in Collioure. Walked down to the city centre Russel located a nice Boulanger / patissiere and picked up a couple of apricot tarts. Did you know he has a sweet tooth? Then we got a couple of fresh orange juices . The apricot tarts were 3 euro 50 each and the juices 6 euro 50 each! Found a park bench to have brekky on and watched the hordes of people passing by. I can imagine this town in a couple of weeks when the European summer holidays kick in.

We hauled back to our apartment to tune into 3aw to listen to the Essendon Eagles  game, but not before stopping to buy a baguette, some cold meat, cheese and a tomato. Russell also picked up a Coke Zero and me a bottle of Collioure’s  finest plonk. Flicked the 3aw ap on and listened to our second win in a row. Happy lads.

We wandered back to town and walked around to both points of the bay/harbour. First one had a nice little bar at the end of it. It was warm and we were parched. There was only one thing to do. You guessed it. We stopped and enjoyed a couple of beverages. Started with a beer each then I switched to Pastis and crème de menthe. I’ve seen the locals drink that in a few places and I sampled it last year. Not bad. We then walked back to the other point, along with everyone else. I had a photo taken next to JC, closest I’ll ever be to him.

Walked back into town and booked a restaurant for dinner that night at 7.30. Found a bar overlooking the beach and had a few more beers til 7.30. Into the restaurant called Chez Simone and ordered one pig of the day and one fish of the day to share and washed it down with a local Vin blanc, which ended up a Chardonnay. The food wasn’t quite enough for me so I ordered a plate of anchovies, Russell had one.  See the pics. After dinner we walked back passed the crowds to the bar we had nightcaps in on Friday. Russell a beer and a rum and ice for me.

Back to the apartment and slept like babies in our separate rooms.

This morning we drive to Sitges, where we are staying tonight but driving the the walled old town if Peratallada near Girona first.
