Bordeaux to Meyronne via Beynac et Cazenac
A nice leisurely drive out of the basement car park well below the streets of Bordeaux this morning. The sat nav, in her best voice, kept trying to send us the wrong way up one way streets and then cracked it when roadworks blocked off a street she had us going up.
Once out of Bordeaux we motored along at 140-150kph for about 180k. Stopped in Beynac et Cazenac for lunch and hooked into the restaurant wifi.and tuned into the Dreamtime game Bombers versus Richmond via 3aw ap. Enjoyed a nice salade Caesar washed down with a few glasses of vin Blanc sec. We were pretty happy at half time but bailed out when Tigers were 3 goals up in the last quarter. We never win from there.
Arrived at Meyronne and checked into our rooms and then saw the result of the game. Coulda knocked us over with a feather. No one I like beating better than Richmond (apart from Hawthorn, Carlton, Collingwood and a couple of others).
Russell chose a snooze because the poor love only had about 12 hours last night but I walked into Saint Sozy across the river aiming for a soccer bar that Julie and I had enjoyed before. Alas the bar had closed . Bloody Covid I assume. Luckily there was a Spar grocery store open and it had a fridge full of cold beer for a bit over 3 euro each. I opted for a Desperado (no relation), which is like Corona but with tequila added. Sauntered back to our accommodation emptying the can on my way. Kids were fishing in the Dordogne river and canoeists were powering down it along with the flow. Would not have liked going against it. Scenery here is beautiful. As good as anything in the world.
I sat in the courtyard with another beverage and started to write and a Scottish couple from Edinburgh walked in. A wee drink with Andrew and Marion and then Russell aroused from his slumber. Another drink. Going to post this now and maybe show the restaurant in a later post.
